General Information.

Filming and photography
Our festival photographers will be taking pictures for us throughout the festival. Permission will also be sought at the ticket-booking stage. Pictures are only used for our own purposes (e.g. website, social media, reports to funders, and occasionally we are asked for images by members of the press). However, please inform us if you object to photography at any of the events you attend and we will do what we can to accommodate your wishes.

Shuttle bus
A free shuttle bus will operate from Bowmore to our events in Portnahaven and Port Ellen. This is operated on a first-come basis as seats are limited (only 16 in total). Priority will be given to those with mobility problems. Sponsored by the Islay & Jura Community Bus.

Car sharing is encouraged where travel to events is necessary; please do contact us in advance if there is an event you would like to attend but will have difficulty getting there and we’ll see if we can pair you up with someone. We will also be setting up a car-sharing page on Facebook so that you can coordinate with each other more easily.

Session length
Each adult session lasts approx. 1 hour, with an extra 10 mins allowed for Q&A, unless otherwise specified. Children’s events usually last up to 45 minutes. Book signings take place at each event.

Children’s attendance
Unfortunately we are unable to offer crèche facilities. Parents must accompany children under 8 at all times. Under-16s are allowed access to adult events with parental permission / supervision. Due to restrictions imposed by some licensing regulations, or if the event content is not suitable for a younger audience, some events may have a minimum age limit. If that is the case, these will be clearly shown in the event description.

Venue info
Cafaidh Blasta at the Gaelic College will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 31st August serving teas, coffees, light refreshments and lunch. All venues have parking available and disabled access and facilities. Please contact us in advance if you will require any assistance.

Books are on sale at our book stall at each event, courtesy of our partners at The Celtic House in Bowmore.
