Sara Sheridan discusses her historical novel On Starlit Seas and the real-life inspiration behind it, travel writer Maria Graham. Following the death of her husband, Maria's story takes her from a Brazil in the throes of civil war on a treacherous journey to London via cacao smuggling rings and an attractive ship's captain!
On Starlit Seas was recently shortlisted for the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Award 2017.
Aided by lots of anecdotes and historical insights, Sara will also talk about the other intrepid women who have found their way into her books.
